piggin peeved off part 2(the starter motor years)

Post by dingdangdoo »

Cant believe it got the over heating sorted, done a few miles around the town all going fine. But popped to the battle axes with the missis and kids had a cuppa and a gab, went to start it up and was met with a loud grinding noise and bugger all else.My father in law towed me off and headed the 3 or so miles home.At home i removed the starter to be met with.

It sucks to be down on your luck, but things will be better! Look at it this way: one less thing to go wrong now!

The other part was removed in one piece luckly,it was just sat on the top of the ring gear.I had a bad feeling that i was going to have to seperate the engine and box to get to the parts.Does any one have a good second hand started for a 1.6 diesel hanging about they would like rid of cheap? If i get no luck with this post,i will post on wanted tomorrow.

Looks like your skinny one - the solenoid is held away from the body of the starter.

I think it must of been a fracture there for a long while,if you can see on the photo there is some evidence of carbon from the clutch that has made its way into the fracture.
