battery light staying on but i've a new(ish) battery

hi there,last 2 days my battery light is staying on,battery is only 18 month old and the van starts no problem 1st time,went on a 65 mile jaunt yesterday and it took a mile to go out after starting,fired her up today to move her up the street a bit (nightmare parking round our way) and its staying on again even though 1st turn away she went,faulty connection?any clues most welcome cheers

Regulator on alternator. Do a search - plenty of posts on the subject recently.

What voltage you got at the battery with it running. If charging should be alittle over 14v. If not then around 12v. Then you can start to diagnose when you know if it is actually charging or not :ok

The 'battery light' is an indication of CHARGING not battery condition.
You probably need a new regulator/brush pack.
Non gen replacements available for around a tenner....10 minutes to fit (two screws to retain)
