It resonates against the back of a pad with the calliper.

Poor quality pads sometimes cause this, easily cured with HMP silicone grease, molybdate grease or copperslip

Bedding in never cured my squeal ..it just got worse

Kev, tried all tjis 3 times now, goes away for a while then returns. The van has new vw calipers and JK pads, ive noticed there is a lot of black brake dust forming and today on the way back from Devon, the reverser happened after a while when they squeaked really loudly when braking. All very intermittent though. Van went very well other than that. Any more thoughts? :?

Kev, ive discovered they are JK pads, do you think they are worth replacing?

Wheels are going quite black with dust too.

I couldn't answer that honestly.
All I can say is I had some cheap pads from Europarts recently... and they are just doing my head in with the squealing

I'll be fitting better pads next year.
In the meantime it's out with the file and HMP silicone grease

File, for what?

Mine are still squealing till i press the brake and cant really drive with my left foot on the brake..

I took the opads out at the weekend, the thin metal between the pad and the piston was sliightly rough so i sanded it doen smooth, added the grease and it stopped again for a while, then it returned. Im driving to woking from portsmouth at the weekend and i know its gonna drive me made. Ill get some more grease and pile it in, would it help to WD40 the piston to ensure it returns correctly? :x

I too am experiencing squealing from my pads, I was under the impression that they were probably cheap pads, or whoever fitted the pads never fitted the anti-squeal plates. Does this plate not come with the new pads?
