the master cylinder on my bay has started leaking a little- stripped it out and there is some build up at the very front of the bore- can i get some wet and dry in there- say 1200 or something to remove it or will it do more harm than good? maybe I could lube it up with some brake fluid or something?
by and large its still in great condiiton.

Give it a go, nothing to loose. Usually the rubber plunger is wearing around the edges is it's beginning to leak though. You won't do any damage with a 1200 wet and dry paper either.
