Clutch Slave Cylinder

Post by Dippy »

Mine leaking, needs replacing.. I consulted the Wiki, which advised me to start by jacking up the van & remove RH rear wheel, so I did.. to discover the slave cylinder is actually to be found on the other (ie left) side of the gearbox.. Uhh? :(

Still 'in progress'.. Had to take an angle grinder to the van to remove a bit of the bulkhead so that I could actually reach the thing AND get a spanner on it.. Unreal! :? Been quoted E75+vat for a new one over here in Ireland. Seems a bit steep?

I didn't even bother trying to undo the bolts once I saw the state they were in! Angle grinder through both of them and 2 new bolts from the local ironmonger!

i had this, but got a mate to help hold the nut on while i screwed in with a spanner at arms lenght - took 1 hour to get the thing off. Luckily the nuts were ok and a quick clean and copper slip later went on with no problem.

i picked up a part from volkspares on ebay for £12 + P&P

have a look

The mystery deepens.. I can't fathom how you could take an angle grinder to the bolts when I had to take an angle grinder to the bulkhead just to reach the bolts! Found a new slave cylinder for 30+pp.. When did u buy one for 12, 1981..?!
