Hi all. I am away in the camper. But after recently putting in a newer rm212 fridge each time I run it on 230v its tripping the vans electrics. Any suggestions before we abandon this holiday?
Thanks, Chris

Can't you run it on gas?

check the wiring/cable is ok. if it is then your element has probably gone. it is only 90-100 watt so not even half an amp on 240v so it wont be the fusing.

Re: rm212 keeps tripping electrics
Depending on what you have, if it's tripping the main RCD and everything 240v related is going off, then you have earth leakage. This means you have an amount of power going from the live to the earth somewhere. If this is a new fridge, then I would take it back or at least get it checked on a meter to discover the resistance between live and earth. If it is a fridge that hasnt been used in a while, you could have dampness inside causing the same problem. Try running it on gas for a day or two (as I think you are) and have another go on mains supply when everything should have dried out a bit. If there is dampness it can be held in the insulation surrounding the heater element and may not go straight away.
If it is only tripping the MCB (just the one breaker on the same circuit) then either there is a short somewhere between live and neutral or the MCB has a problem (not unknown).
