Help finding a company that can weld magnesium alloy

Post by chriscd »

Hi,

The air ducting cases on my 2.0l engine need welding. I understand they are made from magnesium alloy and I haven’t found anyone local (Crewe) that can do the job. :( Does anyone know of a place in the North West (or further afield if necessary) where I can get the job done?

Thanks for your help in advanced

Chris.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give them a call.

I believe the ducting cases are mag alloy because:

the local engineering workshop believed they were and has had experience of type 1 stuff
the weight of the ducting castings is low when compared with the crankcases which are 'normal' aluminium.
