T25 1.9 DG engine power loss
I have just bought a T25 with a 1.9 DG water cooled engine. The engine will idle fine but when i try to pull off the engine will die and cut out. I can rev the engine up for a very short period but the the engine dies again. I have changed the fuel filer, plugs, dizzy cap. Any help would be appreciated!

Sound like fuel starvation.
When you changed the fuel filter did you check the filter in the inlet pipe at the carb end? Wiki shows a nice piccy.
Could be a blocked jet in the carb too.

Re: T25 1.9 DG engine power loss
Thanks for the advice, the filter in the car was full of muck and the van ticks over smoother than before. I have now also stripped and cleaned the carb and relaxed the rotor arm and plug leads. This has still not sorted the problem. It is as if when you pull away another jet should spray fuel but it isn't. I have noticed a Blake plastic pipe next to the choke inlet is melted an partly missing. I am wondering if a replacement carb is the answer. Has anyone got one for sale?

engine off...
Open the choke flap by hand
Take off the pancake duct and look down the venturi.
Get someone to press the accelerator.
you should see a good squirt of fuel spray into the venturi.
My moneys on an air leak.
Check your vacuum lines and connections for splits.
Check the brake servo hose for perishing and porosity (minute holes)
Check the choke pull down unit for failure (take off the pipe and suck, if you can keep sucking it's shagged)
