Re: oil pressure test
Oil pressure values should be taken from the low pressure sender location.
This value shows how much. ..or little pressure you have at the tappet gallery.
Taking a reading from the high pressure sensor (line pressure) will tell you the condition of the oil pump, or the thinness of the oil.
This can drop as low as 0.9 bar. Before the buzzer sounds off.
I fitted a wet gauge to the low pressure sender and was happy to see a healthy pressure. (18 psi @ 900rpm hot.| 40 psi @ 3500 rpm hot). It is now a permenant fixture on the dash.
Not long after fitting, the buzzer sounded off and the oil light flashed.... A quick glance at my mechanical gauge told me all was well and the fault was electrical.
Phew!
