water leak

stupid question i'm aware but...i have a water leak on 2.1wbx. its drips from the lowest point on the oil pump/bit the oil filter screws too and from the drain plug looking type large slotted screw next to that. its just drips out when its cold. tried two bottles of water system sealer. its coming (ish) from around the oilfilter area not much higher but i'll be darned if i can see where from. are there any water pipes obscured from vision around that area?????

Sorry to be of little help but you are going to have to dry it off as best you can and look for where it is coming from.
On a 30 year old engine it could be from almost anywhere. Perhaps your local friendly garage might let you put it on the ramp, that will make examining it a lot easier.

Please tell us what brand of sealant you used, because some of the more popular ones are a big NO NO on these WBX installations because of the thin pipes around the stat and around the engine bay. These can get blocked up by certain makes of sealer and cause no water to flow around the heads, resulting in, well you can guess

Check the 2 tiny hoses that go to the oil cooler ... favourite is the one near the exhaust. Brickwerks sell these hoses now.

plus the water pump is in that area, these have been known to develop a weep from the gasket or from a small hole on the side of the pump.

Basically have a wipe off of the area, get it nice and clean, then start up, run up to normal operating temp and pressure and look for signs of leak.,

thanks MM...after bending my fingers, wrists, arms and neck into what you'd think were near impossible positions i found that little hole blup bluping like a cut vein!!!....that'll be a new pump please!!!...
