France ferry price uncovered...

I had a look but couldnt find the thread about ferry prices being high this year. I was started around boxing day by one of the early bird people who like to do the reservation to have something to aim for I guess and it was about the ferry prices being about the £160 mark. At the time I did have a look myself and it was true and thought it was a sign of the times, with the high fuel prices etc...

Anyway, last night I booked the ferry for our 4 week European tour starting next Thursday and I got the ferry for £62 return inc everything (pay with paypal and you dont get hit with the £4.50 visa charge ) It gave you a variation in price that went with the unsociable times if you wanted to save even more money, but back in December it was simply £160 return for all of them I think.

It was booked through the Norfolk line website (it directs you to another company) but goes to show that the tables have turned and you now pay a premium for early booking. Good for us because I have an extra £100 to spend on drinks

Thats a result. What are the prices for the Channel Tunnel these days compared to the ferry then?

Thats a very good price, is it for a short crossing route? We managed to get Portsmouth / cherbourg return at the end of this month for £180 and thought we were doing well.

Norfolk line is now owned by DFDS now and you get directed to there site. Still the cheapest way to cross the channel.

Interesting that. We booked with seafrance in January using a voucher and it still works out £6 cheaper for us. However, for the sake of £6 i think i will leave it till later next year.

You are right though - ferry prices were scary back then and when i saw the amount of discount i got i jumped at it.

Exactly what we did Rich, I prefer the peace of mind though and for £6 I guess it's worth it to me.

£14 is a couple of good Steak meals and a bottle of wine each from the Shops in Europe, worth the savings if it keeps me off the tinned Tesco value filth

The thread you were looking for was ''Ferry Prices 2011'' started by the Rt.Hon member for Sheepfield in mid December. In early January Louey came up trumps with a discount code for Sea France. Lots of us used that code & got a good discount. You are travelling mid week Jed & that will account for a fair amount of your saving. As I previousIy posted in January this year, I sailed from Dover - Calais on a Monday but returned on a Sunday. Returning on the Monday would have saved me £16.00 but it didn't suit me.

wow prices have fallen , i got it down to just over £100 which still is a good price for the 3 of us and the heffa
