i have one of these heaters under my seat but have not touched it. i have a petrol bus so take it there must be another diesel tank somewher? is there a usual place for it? to be honest, the thing scares the poo poo out of me so been avoiding it on purpose. some one told me today that they are very effective and worth alot of money and i should get it going if i am to camp all year round which sparked my curious side.it has all the wiring, control box and i have linked out the thermostat as i needed to remove it for paint. anyone know a servicing place for these in the south?

Re: eberspacher
Why would you have a diesel tank?
You will most probably have a petrol model, try to start it up. You need to ensure that you have a good battery. It can take 10 - 12 starts to get the fuel up to the heater if it hasn't been used for ages.

Errr, they are designed to be used - they aren't just for decoration!
People never liked using petrol cars years ago.
Others wouldn't use petrol blowlamps also!

i might have a look at it when the temp drops. just dont fancy having something running on petrol under me as i sleep. ( even though the fridge is on gas ) maybe if i get it looked at by an expert then i might feel different about it.

Diesel is an engine not a fuel.
I liked camping so much I went full time.

Mines petrol, works a treat.
I would stop running your bus as well if you feel that way about the heater, the engine also runs on petrol!
Servicing or at least checking the ebber is a good idea but as far as safety goes the unit is under the van, not in the van, it blows hot air, not fumes, the combustion chamber in the unit is seperate from the blower part.
And
I never use mine once we are in the sack! it's there to warm things up whilst we are up and about, it gets turned off the minute we are in bed. In the morning I just lean over, turn it on and let it take the chill off before getting up.

Likewise with the D1LC we have, they are far too hot to have on all night unless it's WELL below freezing and then only on the lowest setting just tickling over.
