If two big burly bikers can't tear it out with their bare hands - its fixed right. Thats not a bad guide. On my DIY one (in WIKI) I used spreader plates (flat bar fashioned into giant washers) anywhere I put a bolt through any bodywork. Self tapping screws ok for holding furniture together but not adequate for securing a seat. That should point you in the right direction.
