rear door lock hassle

Post by trotsky1116 »

Hi to all

On my late 87 Multivan, the rear door unlocks OK, but when you push the button in to 'pop' it, nothing happens. Any clues on how to tackle this?

Have you got VW Central Locking?
The button in mine is ineffective when the doors are locked.

hmmm thanks Titus, I have an aftermarket alarm which i do not trust, it does have central locking, not sure if it is factory or not. I will try locking/unlocking with alarm immobiliser & see what happens

I've had a couple of similar occasions with my tailgate lock. Mine was once central-locking but no longer works. That's not a problem, but the rod that used to operate the central locking was sliding away so the barrel was not in reach of the mechanism. I just made and fitted a spacer so it couldn't slide away any more and its been fine since. A bit fiddly to get in though - you need double-jointed fingers!
