yeah the campers running again! turned out to be the ignition amp (well done mr Hulley) cost me a tenner for a brand new one of ebay so didnt break the bank. again thanks all for the help
dont fix it if its not broke cos after you finish it will be!

lol no probs just a thing i noticed though when i removed old ignition amp the back surface was clean with a bit of dried up gunk on it well most of our vans are 25 plus years old and it would seem that the heat tranfer paste has all but dried up and gone from this joint, if your is the same as mine the ignition amp is mounted on an ally sheet to act as a heat sink and the unit is then bolted on with heat tranfer paste to help get the heat out of the amp into the plate, well if paste has dried up the heat sink is usless, be worth checking yours and re appling the heat tranfer paste before the amp is toasted like mine, 30 second job but if the amp fails its a truck ride home like mine hope this helps guys
