starting problem

hi guys need a little help van is 1.9 petrol just got it a few weeks ago its tuning over very slow the battery looks new but i think small its an 063 which it says is 45amp i put an aditional new engine earth then removed the starter this was when i realised there must have been a prob before as its got the paint marking on it from a breaker or similar i cleaned the face on starter and mounting face but its still slow any easy way to check the starter itself or ideas please ta

and the tech pages of this forum.

check Starter bush in bell housing worn or seizing.
Poor earths and or live contact at battery and starter

hi just been reading some of the other posts and the bush the starter goes in seems to be a common prob is it much of a problem to change thanks
