Kerosene for diesel?

Hi there. This might be a stupid question, but can kerosene be used as a substitute for diesel? I have about 5 gallons of unused kerosene that I usually use in an apartment stove that I no longer have and am unsure of what to do with. Can I add it a little at a time to my vannie? I don't live in a very cold environment (never below freezing), so the lower gel point isn't an issue for me. Thanks for any insight!

Kerosene doesn't have lubricating properties like diesel does. And the revenue don't like you "extending" diesel with kerosene. Having said that, about 5% probably won't hurt. I do that in my tractor, but I've got the best part of 30gallons to shift, could take a while.

Do the calculation. The price of 5 gallons of kerosene against a possible damaged fuel pump or an unlikely fine.
