got back to it today as mr sunshine came out. had all the glass out today to get the luvre and sliding window stripped and cleaned with some acid and to clean up the rubbers.

fitted the new head lining as the windscreen was out. bought it from the mini company that sells em on ebay and it was a quality bit of kit. quite ironic that a mini company can do things better than these vw companys, ahem jk ahem.
stripped the old one out
Image
got the other one in in an hour or so. helped that my old man used to fit em in transits many years a go. very impressive watching him.
Image
Image
trimmed the new mats in the cab area
Image
Image
really pleased with how the old girl is looking now. quite satisfying giving a bit of new life into what was quite a sorry looking bus.

put the new mirrors on and they are the right way up now as the paint shop put the original ones on sideways.my new grill is in the post so should be here next week and the tail gate badges is waiting for me at the post office. getting quits excited now as she should be ready for the 6 weeks holiday and cant wait to get out. bring on the wilderness ( ok, maybe a campsite )

cracked on a bit the last couple of days.
went crazy with the underseal and finally blacked out all the arches and gave the underneath a healthy coating. decided i needed to build the rear section for the r&r bed to go down on and was fed up with looking at a blue engine deck.
got some 3mm board, cut it to the shape of the rear and carpeted it so it is removable.
Image
then built the box for the bed to go down on and can get some stuff inside it.
Image
Image
and voila, i finally have a bed that is usable.

can go camping in her now, all be it with out a cooker and sink but thats no biggy really. not really looking forward be woken up but a door handle being wedged in my preverbial  but hopefully it wont happen. :D

Awesome work there Jamie, I bet you are well chuffed!

The roof lining you fitted, is it waterproof? I'm just thinking if that if the heavens opened up during the night, it would get yourselves quite wet.

cheers bud. if you mean the bellows bit for the roof then yes it is. it is from proud to pop and is a welded plastic. fitted really well and they do em for all the different elevating roofs.

Met a retired upholsterer today that will do my rear seat etc, cream leatherette with brown piping. Using some 4" foam from the sofa bed I bought at the weekend, ready for next wednesday for holidays on Saturday. :D

wicked mate, nice colour combo. what i would say is. for the rear foam which goes above the engine bay make it slightly thicker. the thickness of your bed frame. that way you can make the rear build flat and when your bed is down on it, the rear cushion is in line with your other two cushions and you aint got a dip in your bed. hope that makes sense :?

had them done by a guy i found down here. he got all the stuff. just unscrew the handles under the tabs at top and bottom, door pockets, winders under by pulling the whole cover off of them and undo the screw at the back of the door handles and pull the cards off. if you are going to re cover them then use fir tree clips. 8-9mm ones and put em in before you cover. will make life very easy and theey are better than the vw/jk ones. i bought new mdf ones from jk but make sure you open all the holes in them upto 12mm. the back ones will already be done.
