Rear 3-point belt in a Westy?

Post by smudge »

Hello everyone...some advice please!

I have a 1991 Westy and 7 year old twins who will NOT sit still in the back!! They have the standard Graco car seats which we use with the lapbelts but I'm not really happy with that as the kids move around far too easily and I worry about spinal injuries in the event of an accident. In the past I've owned a Baywindow Westy van which had factory fitted seat belt mounts in the rear (as did all the camper conversions that left the factory as a microbus shell), so fitting the rear 3-point belts wasn't a problem there.

So, do the Westy's have factory fitted seat belt mounts unter the trim? I appreciate the wardrobe side will present it's own set of problems, but can I fit a 3-point belt on the other side using existing mounts?

At least then I can put one child in the front on a 3-point and one in the back on the same (I can just hear the arguments about who goes in the front.... )

Thanks in advance....

I've just checked in the Wiki, and I might just be in luck! Off to the garage to check!

That said, any Westy owners out there who have done this? And who would be the best people to buy the belt from?

Many thanks again...
