Powered Steering

Hi Just baught a t25 1984 Panel Van, Steering seems unusually heavy, how can i tell if it should have powered steering? if it does not have powered steering how heavy should the streering be to identify if there are any other issues? cheers

Inflate the tyres to the correct pressures (45 front/55 rear for standard 185 R14C tyres) if it's still too heavy you've bought the wrong vehicle I'm afraid. After market PAS kits are available but VERY expensive.

A standard panel van didn't have factory PS.....are tyres and the steering wheel original?

Cheers thanks for the help< will check tire pressurs etc, probably seems heavier as used to modern powered steering, has standard Steering wheel not a small car wheel.

This is a problem ... especially younger peeps are used to PAS and powerful turds getting 50mpg ... these venerable old buses aren't in that league (fortunately)

I purchased an electric power steering kit from Ultimate Engineering, you have to exchange your steering rack for a modified one,it also comes with motor, ecu, speed sensor and wiring plus instructions on took me 4 hours to fit and its the best thing i have done to improve the vehicle. cost of kit £395.00

You mean column surely?
These look very well made but they do leave lots of unanswered questions about legality, voiding insurance with non homologated fittings, safety in a crash etc etc.
