MOT question....
Is it an mot failure if the front shox, (on an old beetle), dont have any top shrouds fitted to the shox, (so that the plunger rod is exposed), not broken, just not fitted.
Cheers.

My doctor asked if any members of my family suffered from insanity, I replied, Hell no, we all kinda enjoy it.

Except.....SOME garages take the line that if its meant to be fitted they won't have it. Came across a garage that said that about a Z bar insisting it was an anti-roll bar (it isn't - its just for towing). I removed it since most beetles don't have them but would they pass it??? Nope. Bloke stood his ground. At this point I told him where to stick his garage and it sailed through at the next one I took it to.
Generally its down to lack of knowledge by the inspector or it turns out he's a Ford man and just hates VW's - seen a lot of that.
