Re: help no spark
Is the earth wire on the left bank cylinder head ? Otherwise my money's on the ignition amplifier. http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/shop?page=s ... ory_id=122
Is there anyone near you who's got one you could swap to test ?

Re: help no spark
Possibly stick the coil lead onto the head STEP WELL AWAY and have a chum turn over the engine Be VERY carefull ... not sure about that one though, perhaps someone else could comment ?
Coils break down gradually ... missing when under load going up hill etc, ignition amplifiers just stop working. I take it you've checked the earth ?
Ian.

Re: help no spark
just an update on the no spark drama had a few mins to lok at it again today was checking the hall sensor by winding engine over by hand and got a shock off the king lead, so pluged it back into dissy wound engine over on the key (spark plugs out) and all four sparked bit odd replaced plugs and tried again and it fired up ran perfect for about a min then cut out and back to no spark again, really puzzled now, ive got a new ignition amp on its way so hopefully that will help anyone any ideas on whats happening?

Re: help no spark
The hall sender is simple to check just remove the centre HT lead from the distributor and hold it about 5mm away from a metal part of the engine or bodywork and away from the fuel system, remove the three pin plug from the distributor and probe a piece of wire into the centre pin of the plug, switch on the ignition and then scrape the other end of the wire along a metal part of the engine this should then produce sparks from the HT lead, if you get sparks then the rest of the ignition system is OK and the hall sensor is at fault. before you replace the sensor check there is more than 5 volt across the two outside pins of the three pin plug.

Re: help no spark
I had a similar intermittant fault a while ago. After it failed bigherb's method for testing helped me pin down what was and wasn't working. Here's the link to the way I tested the dizzie when it was off the van. In the end I didn't re-fit the electronic dizzie on my van as the 009 was more reliable.

Re: help no spark
hi thanks for the repies i already checked the hall sensor as you said thats how i got to find the camper had temp fixed its self, i get 10.2 volts at the 3 pin plug on dizzy but shorting with a wire dont produce a spark well it did for a min then stopped again imjust waiting for posty to bring a new ignition amp if that dont work its got to be coil or king wire, coil hav 12v going to it with ignition on but dont switch off when middle pin on dizzy is grounded so im thinking its got to be ignition amp. all wiring looks good all terminals are clean etc. got a letter today from greenflag asking how did they do on recovery of the camper, well hows the best way to tell them that four hours to move the van 9 miles wasnt what i expected! i could have walked home quicker lol
