Chinon is to be recommended, it has an almost intact castle where Joan of Arc had an audiance with the King of France to ask permission to raise an army to fight ....................................... "Les Anglais"

Tomorrow is my last day at work until 22 August. Buying a variety of packs of ground coffee from Sainsburys (French stuff is not that interesting). Painting windows, packing and haircut then off to France on Sunday on the 10.00am ferry to Dunkirk. Circumnavigating Paris on excellent roads (but masses of roundabouts) and should be camped up West of Paris between Evreux and Dreux Sunday afternoon. Even the weather looks as if it is getting better. Then due South mainly on the A20 (mostly toll free, for about 150 miles) and should arrive about 600 miles later near Najac (Richard the Lionheart did some nasty deeds here when he invaded from England of all places). We have been there so often it feels more like going home every year. For those going for the first time to France enjoy roads that we have not seen over here for decades and generally camp sites and scenery to be jealous of. Bon voyage one and all!
:ok
