Hi!! I'm glad I found this forrum since I've recently started to repair my VW Caravelle 1.6 TD 5 Speed (T25) my self :)

I'm looking for new shift rod guide but I can't find no body selling this on the web.. am I crazy? Or its impossible to buy new ones?
My VW dealer in Montreal, Quebec, Canada says they can't have that cause it's a European model... it seems like the North American version 5 speed TD Vanagon doesn't have this part? Did they ever made north american 5 speed TD Vanagon ?

Any way, the only solution I see is to find someone that can make it.. in that case perhaps I'll have it done in steel ... so it last longer.

I would appreciate any clue on this mysterious part of my WV.

Cheers!

I'm pretty sure you can get these guides still from VW (in the UK at least). I got 2, part number I think is V251 711 173C, for about £10 each from VW in 2008 for my 1.6 TD. That said there seems to be plenty of guys out there who can make these things from scratch, geniuses they are!

I was told that these blocks were discontinued by VW.

Have a word with a member on here called SilverBullet - he's going to be making these soon
