Doorhandles / lock sets

Post by Reimotim »

My 1990 t25 only has one working lock (driver's side).
Is it possible to remove and referb the other locks?
If so, how?
OR
am I better off searching for replacements?
If so, will a lock/door set from a 1990 golf or jetta fit my T25?

Any thoughts are welcome!

You can but new barrels for sliding door lock OEM for 25 quid and simiarly door lock barrels, very easy to replace only takes half hour. Otherwise some people on her or ebay etc do sell sets of working locks.

Have you tried stripping the locks its easy to do about 4 or five springs and the same amount of plates, the plates get corroded and stick so its normally just a matter of cleaning and rebuild its worth trying before you purchase new only one of my locks worked and once cleaned they all work off one key. have a look at this site http://www.hallvw.clara.net/lockpart.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

cheers bert2 for the advice, tried that and still no joy. It's a shame as the cost of new ones are a bit steep but I think I have no choice. I spoke to the company mentioned above (rob) and ended up ordering 2 cab handles and locks. Some time ago some twit in southern France broke into the van and made a scratch on the paintwork of the handle so it's time for out with the old and in with the new.
I will update on the company performance when the good arrive.

What can I say? This company is good. All three locks/handles came in the post pretty quick and all fitted the 1 key - thanks to rob at the lock shop part of the site. They look good, my only quibble is that I had to use the original bits of plastic between the lock and the bodywork. (I didn't buy these!) Mine were ok but if they had perished, it'd be a hard time getting them.
I can only recommend! tops tuff :ok

Now.. what to do with the old ones.. :wink:
