hi there folks...
i have broken down in south france in my t25.. i started losing power going up hills.. then it got worse.
it starts fine, idles nicely.. but when i increase the revs i get problems.. spluttering/juddering.. and some blue smoke..
this got worse until i virtually had no power at all to get up even the slightest incline..
i'm now stationed in an industrial park which has a garage around the corner, so i'm going to ask in there later, but thought i'd try and get some advice on here first.. (plus my french is really bad) . .
i could really do with a friend right now..
and on the off-chance that anyone knows any vw clubs in the area of biarritz/bayonne that would also be truly welcomed info..
ok, thanks for your time
Lawrence

Type of engine and or code would help with a possible diagnosis.

I am guessing you have checked the fuel filter?

My 1.6td had exactly the same symptoms, compression was tested and was found to be half what it should be, suspected piston rings. I got a replacement engine
Time is a drug. Too much of it kills you
Re: diesel engine probs, any advice really welcome
yeh i should've mentioned that it's a 1.9 diesel (non-turbo) . .
i took it to a garage yesterday and was lucky to find a friendly english speaking chap in there who had a quick look at it . .
he found a couple of things that he wants to out-rule before fully diagnosing it . . mostly the fact that there are air bubbles running through my fuel line . .
but yes, others have mentioned the fuel filter as well..
also, i'm told the injector pipes could be sucking in air... so i'm not going for the replacement engine/piston rings route just yet . .
she's been in the garage all day today, going back there at 5.30 for the verdict.. wish me luck people, i reckon i could do with it . .
thanks for all comments
