Do you have to bleed a Diesel if you run out of fuel

Post by ghost123uk »

I know little about Diesels and I don't own one, but this thought popped into my head and as I hate not knowing, I had to ask = Do you have to bleed a VW T25 Diesel engine if you run out of fuel, or can you just fill up and crank away until it fires up ?
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here

If you have a really good battery you can just crank her over until.

Otherwise it's a bleed job, I put a piece of clear clean tubing on the filter outlet and gently sucked.

Here I go again, fit a non return valve between the filter and pump I and others have found this to be a worthwhile investment, and I have never had to bleed the pump.

That is exactly the sort of thing Lloydy, I also have the clear filter thing which is useful for detecting any air in the line.
