Post by Plug66 »

HI all . Still being a rookie.

I have 1.9 Pterol (1983 DF engine) that driving along started popping spluterr. Lost all power. Pulled over and mins later after a few attempts it started ok and got me home ( only about mile away anyway)

Also as you appoacha junction and slow down it cuts out before even stopping .

plugg
mine did the same thing and i worked it out after lots of head scratching and about 30 pounds of fuel it was the fuel filter under the van ,,it was full of crud and wasn't letting the petrol trough quick enough so the van was petrol sterved so put a new one on at a cost of 50 pence and no problems since

touch wood!!!!!!!!

Give all the exposed electrical connectors a spray and good wiggle
as a bit of verdigris will partially stop connectivity.
Even those that are protected will need a little of the same
treatment from time to time.

A totally chocked air filter can also cause this.

fuel pump also gives same symptoms.
as do plug leads breaking down and dissy cap and rotor arm past sell buy date.

go with the fuel filter first.
