to be fair they don't need overhaulin'
they are pretty much robust... made to last and work without much servicing.

You oughta try it.
it would be a lot more usefull than the cool box for sure.

Though by now I would imagine it needs up ending for the night to circulate the ammonia and dissolve the crystals.
Might as well pull it out anyway if your not using it and put it upside down for the night.
with it out you can test it on gas with no worries.

but regarding the battery that cooly box/pump and DVD is gulping power best delivered from a leisure.

I have two starters wired in parallel and even they are struggling after two nights (DVD, telly, Head unit)

I'm going to a traction battery next

cheers Kev. I will try turning fridge, it has been sitting stationary in the house for a while. Let you know if that resolves it.
Never sure where I'm going till i get there.

A torch battery will run led's :D

normal leisure or starter will suffice

whats the power rating on the LED strip? (watts)

Cheers, think i've sussed it now. I've bought a 5m strip of 'warm white' LEDs to run along both sides of the van - hopefully they won't look too ridiculous and be bright enough. Apparently they're rated at only 24W so i figure something like an 88ah will do the job. I know i've got an old leisure battery that must have been disdcharged for 4 years - will this be ruined?

Only £15 delivered for the LED strip, so i thought it was worth a shot >

24 watts! 4 double A's would run them :D
seriously that strip is not drawing much. ..Just 2 amps.
