GSF have water pumps that are genuine VW with the logo ground off for about £25 if you need one.

It is getting hot, not just the sender reading it wrong?

It could be kit, mine kept saying it was over heating, it turned out to be the wrong senders and very bad earths, it now has nice new ones and fresh earth wires made. I've now got brickwerks senders.

Fingers crossed you sort it ok.

hi cazz and kit. no.the van smells very hot and when i turn it off and then try to re start it dont like to start again. Im now thinking could they have given me the wrong thermostat, i put the heater on full and the fan while i was driving and it started to drop the temp but as soon as i turn it off it shot back up. jen

I guess it is possible they gave you the wrong thermostat, or it has an air lock. Have you bled it according to the wiki?

When mine did have genuine over heating issues, the radiater bled fine, but it wasn't getting hot all the way, I had that changed after the water pump was changed, it was then fine.

I knew it was overheating because it smelt, drove bad and it boiled all over the floor from the bottle at the back. It hasn't since.

I'm not an expert, i'm just speaking from my experience.

thanks cazz mine drives fine and dont throw water and the rad dont get that hot that you cant hold your hand on it. i did use the wiki guide, im going to bleed it again tomorrow and hope its just a block. When i bleed it again tonight i had a few bits of air then it ran clear water. it did still smell hot. i will phone the shop that ordered the thermo for me just to make sure. jen

I should have said that my temp gauge was near the bottom during all this, I thought it was working fine, clearly not. After I had it "fixed" it always said it was too hot, when it wasn't. Of course now it sits in the middle, at last!!!

If you bled some more air out, fingers crossed it's that simple. Keep us posted. :ok

is this just a big airlock. i have started the bleed prosses again no air just water from the rad bleed screw then undone it again no water and no air take the revs up higher and just a trickle of water . water in header tank red hot and temp just below top is there anything else i could try. jen
