"Run Forrest Run !"

Ha! That's probably the funniest and best valued (£1000s!!!) piece of advice I've had this year.

so what becomes of MOT test centres that make these oversights?

Thank you all. All very quick and very useful.

Joe

P.S (E D I T in response to Ian's last post). Case closed. Thanks mate. These forums are worth their weight in gold.

We aim to please (and amuse where possible) :pimp

Good ones are still out there but 1984 is a long time ago and unless you have a large budget £5K+ be prepared to either get down and dirty thoroughly checking for stuctural rust OR get chummy with a welder and a fireman. And we saw ones advertised at £5K that I wouldn't keep a dog in.

Have fun and good luck. Ian.

Thanks Ian.

The vehicle was going to go for around £5.5k after haggling. Not anymore.

Imagine how big that hole could have got if you were chasing it back to find good metal ?

I believe theres a thread on the wiki about changing inner and outer cills ... NOT pretty  Also there's a great buyers guide there too https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Mi ... yers_guide

Lovely. Thanks for the links. The more info the better.

I can't quite decide if this is a deliberate attempt to stitch somebody up. I hope nobody wastes their money on this.

Another problem with rust like that is it most likely rotted from the inside. My drivers side inner sill gradually went from ok to rotten and it was all down to years of condensation and water coming through a split side window seal. It rotted the floor behind the kitchen then ate away at the sill. In that area it's most likely water leaking in the rear side window.

Hi there Cruz.

Thanks for the additional input.

I guess it would be too good to be true to get the right vehicle first time. I'm now trawling the internet for other likely candidates.
