Hi, I`ve just fitted a Brickwerks refurb kit - no instructuions and no manual and now I`ve lost reverse gear and maybe others but he`s parked on a downbank with a drop at the end so i`m not going to find out
Any sugestions?
Cheers
Regular naps prevent old age..... especially if you take them while driving.
chock the front wheels, manually select the gear at the box and reverse to a better testing situation (there may be a lot of faff while testing!) ie flat ground. Failing that its a tow or a flat bed.
Ok done that - I didn`t know how to manually selct reverse either but managed
Well, I don`t have 1st and reverse - so it seems the stick can`t move far enough over - there is a device attatched to the bottom of the stick which `clicks when the stick is moved to reverse - this one:-
there were parts included to refurb this too but no rubber gaiters so i wasn`t going to bother until i`ve got hold of themand as you can see they are pretty much shot, could this be the problem?
I have a jx diesel engine which means the haynes manual i got is pretty much usless for most of the mechanical jobs - Is one available?

Your top hat bushes are missing, there should be two bushes between the gear stick and front rod link taking up the slack. I have two new ones here, pm me your details and I'll post them out to you, cant do it till Monday though as that's next first post.

Rob.
This is why I LOVE this site - people willing to offer help and advice to others.
Thanks Rob but no need as I had the parts in the kit but thought they were for the other part of the selector as I don`t remember taking the old ones out
All done and working great - another of many jobs crossed of the list thank you all.
Next job is replacing the servo pump, the replacement has the plastic connector broke off so i have to butcher mine to fix it,
I`m hoping it`s a straight forward swap?
Does anybody know of a printed manual for JX diesel models? It would really come in handy
