Venting an alpha leisure battery
Hi
I bought an alpha leisure battery and would like some advice on venting. It has a small hole on the right hand side which I assume is to fit a venting pipe to, unfortunately the hole is quite small and I can't seem to get any tube small enough, everybody I speak to at local car shops says there should be an adapter you insert then attach the tube to this but there isn't!
Any ideas or similar probes anybody?
Cheers
Rich

And you asked the people that you bought the battery from?

I have an alpha leisure battery and it's a sealed unit, no mention anywhere of having to vent it

Like oldie says you need to ask the supplier, but some batteries the hole is just a vent hole no pipe is intended to be attached. VW didn't fit a pipe as the battery is not in an enclosed space and as long as the charging system is working correctly the battery shouldn't excessively gas.

Re: Venting an alpha leisure battery
A quick update, alpha batteries said "as with all leisure batteries used in confined spaces it does need venting" they also said they would speak to the manufacturer and try and supply the correct venting tube. I'll update when I hear back, reluctant to fit it until I get the pipe as my 2 years old will be sleeping in the van with us so safety has to be top if the list!!

OTT safety for me ..just my opinion.
batteries only start effervescing when being charged ... no charge no gas.
I bet you don't use the fridge on gas either

How many people sit on a starter battery in their van smoking and don't give it a thought?

Re: Venting an alpha leisure battery
Actually my (old) starter battery had a clear vent pipe attached to it which goes through the bottom of the battery box. It's just hanging there doing nothing now since the replacement battery doesn't have anywhere to connect it to.
