A quick favour please. I have just come into possession of this van and as it is listed as a motor caravan on the Log Book wondered if any one knows if it is a specific conversion? It is a bit of a shed at the mo and has had rats in and been stood a long time. I think in its day it was a good conversion tho. It has twin tables, a zig unit etc the only decals are a ¨camping¨ one on the back. It is an 81 air cooled. I have put interior pictures up as it look like there is a sun roof in the pop top, so may be specific type?
That is an early van!!!!! Nice find, love the hubcaps too. (If you get shot of them can I have first dibs?!)
Initially, by the looks of the headlining, windows and roof vents, I'd say it has been converted from an early 'Bus' or caravelle, but Ive just had another look at the headlining it looks as though the factory headling has been used to trim all the way into the roof opening.(?!) Unless it was a sunroof version?
I cannot help with the ID of the conversion as the cushions are in the way of the units in your pictures. Any chance of any more pictures please? And more pics of the van exterior too, Im very intrigued by this one.
thanks for responses its a 81 air cooled, the log book says a 1.6. At the moment the inside is full of rubbish and needs clearing out and disinfecting cos of the rat poo/wee thats inside it i act see the roof from above at mo and it looks like the catches are broken so we havent lifted the roof up until it has been breakdown trucked to my house. We wondered if it was a Devon as the pop top looks a bit Devony from my camper interiors book!
Hicksy - we have about 300 days sun down here so not as much rust tho if i put a close up shot it would look tons worse!
probably not a devon. the devon rear wardrobe is fibreglass and brown carpet finished.the work tops are wrong in colour /design
they were made from passenger carrying busses which vw badged up as 'camping' probably had little or no interior from the waist down.- factory windows /full headlining ect. if only all campers were made of the same!
where abouts in spain are you should be there in our van in a month or so!

we are diwn south near Almeria, if you are coming this far dont forget your sun screen! It was 41 in my van today i am trying to pluck up energy to go back to work no! Thanks for reply, i guess once i empty the van out it may look more like something. I think there were some good bits to it....swivel seats, table for front seeats and back etc. I am happy with factory fitted windows too as i just sold a Bay panel van conversion and altho it was very nice i prefer factory windows, i just think the are a bit better quality
looks like a devon roof design but that is about it. is there a roof vent in the middle?
what are the vents on the side above the windows, be well cool if it was aircon ( excuse the pun )
masses of potential in i reckon and being down there, hopefully no rust issues. keep us posted
