These carbs?

Any tuning of a carb or a pair of carbs needs a gas anyliser and a vacuum gauge in the second case.

Scroll back ;)

Sorry to hijack a similar thread, its a 2.0 Aircooled so twin solex PDSIT carbs. A gas analyser would be handy but alas i dont have one at home. I was thinking more alontg the lines of basic home tuning. I know people used to balance them by ear etc

Found a good guide here.... http://www.ratwell.com/technical/DualCarbs.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I made my own vacuum guages for my twin carbs as it is basic kit for that set up
nothing is more accurate....

Gas anylisers are the only way to set up mixture correctly.
Not using one opens the door to cooked engines in my experience.
My local garage lets me use theirs while I turn the mixture screw. .. It takes a few minutes and its done.

Getting the butterflies synchronised is paramount to efficiency and smooth running on paired carbs
the tolerances to do that are to fine for ameteurs.

But hey thats just my opinion..
