Headlights

Post by slobbo »

I recently discovered a couple of things about square headlights. 1. That you can have LHD square headlights which fool you and the MOT testers.
2. The inner fog lights ARE handed. Not in the way the pattern of the glass goes but in the shape of the glass. One side is thicker than the other meaning it can only go on one side. I guess I could de bond it from the casing and turn the glass around might save me a few pennies.

I had removed the headlights and sold them as rhd with the fog I had picked up to replace the cracked one. The guy that bought them id'd them as LHD and the fog as handed. Had to give him his money back. Made me look a tit as well. Oh well.

Anyone need some lhd headlights. Got 4 now although only 2 fogs.
Cheers
Rob.

Here is something else about these lights, the square ones (inner) are not fog lamps but main beam lamps and yes they are handed which means I have LHD inners and RHD outers! Either way with 100w and 100/75w bulbs they are danm good.

Absolutely right. Well spotted for some reason my mind says fogs instead of spots. Dooh

Someone suggested a while back (aiden I think) that vw were going to start supplying right hand drive square headlights. Any news on this?

To help you in the future....
The inner lamps are the exactly the same as the ones fitted to the MK2 Scirocco.
RHD outer lamps have an arrow, pointing to the right,on the lense near the Hella sign....LHD lamps don't have an arrow.
