rear wheel Bearings

never done the rear bearings on a T25 before but done them on cars before so thought how hard can it be???


was a little bit more involved than i was expecting.

replaced the rear offside ones first......... no problem happy days

replaced the near side ones second but the hub nut has done up too tight and the wheel dont move ???

what am i doing wrong?

nothing... just get mad with it.

scaffold pole and a mate (fat) will shift it

you say you have done 1 side ok and also done the second side? and now the wheel wont turn on this one? that is how Ive read it

not don hem my self, but I dont think you can overtighten them, its like 360 ft/lbs. something definitely not right there. Check the drum brakes have not been disturbed and binding?

Bearing not been seated properly? Spacer out of kilter? Remove and recheck what you've done.....

Sorry for the late replies Ive been away to European Bug-in (hence the getting the bus ready) had to jump in with friends at the last moment as had the issues with the wheel baring.

Basically done the off side baring and job went fine done the hub nut up all ok and the split pin went in sittingnicely in the middle of the castle nut arms

when the nearside was done seemed ok everything went on but when the hub nut was tightened and the split pin was put in it sat right at the tip of the castle nut arms? basically the hub nut had virtually gone on further than the split pin hole.

This is what I kinda assumed (but it was only a guess) i was guessing the only way is to take it all off and start again with another inner and outter wheel baring to be sure.

not having done this before thought id ask unless there was something silly I was missing. I seem to have a knack in missing the blindingly obvious when doingjobs like this.

It was all a rush as I needed to get the bus ready for a show at the weekend now I have more time i think i will replace the driveshaft allen key bolts as a couple were trying to round off!

Sorry posted as things went wrong assumed I could not make the weekend away with me mates so would have responded and worked on the bus over the weekend, but me mates were not having that and picked me and me stuff up and gave me a lift to and from belgium
