Re: gas struts
Hi,
I got my struts from the Samba guy and fitted them last week. Very easy fix (had to drill two holes in roof though
, but that's nothing compared to the 16 I had to drill for the roof bar brackets
). The work very well, I had a 2.4m x .9m roof box with awning, chairs & various other camping kit in it, all weighing in at approx 35kgs! I could still lift the roof (just), but I would reccommend maybe emptying a little before doing so again.

Re: gas struts
Ha ha!! That's a difficult one as I wouldn't want to get stopped at customs. I go over there for work relatively regularly (once a month), so I suspect a couple of sets at a time maybe. I would have to repackage them so it looks like part of the kit that I take over there with me
. I wouldn't want to make too much of a habit of it though.

Re: gas struts
just looked up customs charges, should only be the VAT to pay, which is about £15. So not to bad really, works out £77 to your door

Make sure of that! I often import spares for my other hobby, from the US and not only get clobbered by HMRC but also Parcelfarce's 'handling' fee -I've already paid the postage, mind, and their charge is now around 12 quid
