240v socket locations??!!

Post by hicksy »

Hi all,

Some of you have seen my Camper build on the Camper section and I have a question regarding it please. Im looking for a nice discreet place to mount my 240v Hookup socket.

Im thinking of bolting it to the underside of the area behind the nearside rear wheelarch, right at the back out of view. The cable will the route into the engine bay, via a gland, and then into the interior through the rear firewall. Does this sound ok or do you guys have any better suggestions or ideas?
My only worry is that the plug would be subject to all the detritus spraying from the rear wheels.

Your thoughts please, Leigh :ok

On the service flap (behind the service flap) is a good place.
Out of sight, no need to cut holes and is protected from the weather.

Do a search and you'll more info.

That was my original plan, but the socket I bought is slightly too big to fit, and I have a aaz conversion in the way. It may still work with a bit of coaxing though.

Titus,

Thank you very much for your help. I'm normally pretty good at doing the whole search thing (and advising others to do the same!) but didnt do on this occasion. I have since found a number of threads explaning great advice. Thanks again. :ok

i just got an ip65 one and fixed it to the bottom. also fitted a female one to the bottom on the other side and made up a lead with a multi adapter on the end so i can have power in the awning and still lock the van up.
