Gearbox rebuild

Post by colinthefox »

My ABF gearbox is getting a bit noisy, and I want to rebuild it myself before it gets too bad.

I have plenty of experience of rebuilding gearboxes, especially Hillman Imp and Vol-vo360 trasaxles.

AT's website says he'll supply the bits.

So where can I found out the technical information I need, such as setting up the crown wheel & pinion and preloads, and any info on special tools please? I've searched on here and drawn a blank.

My Haynes says absolutely nothing. I'd happily buy a Bentley Manual if I knew it had all the info I need, but would be annoyed if it didn't.

Or is it just a case of not losing the cw&p settings as they are, and proceeding with care?

Thanks Steve.

Armed with that reassurance, I'll put a Bentley manual on my shopping list.
