interior wiring diagram 84 westy

Post by jonnyshowbiz »

Morning chaps
Have a T25 84 westy, and trying to sort out the interior wiring, I'm definately no expert so have an auto electrician chap sorting it, he does work on campers but mainly modern ones. I understand that any new hook up should have a new trip switch and comsumer unit so sorting that.
It seems that the split charger is working so the leisure battery charges, but doesn't hold a charge very well, it also appears that the lights run off the "engine" battery is this correct?
If anyone has an internal wiring diagram that would be brilliant

thanks guys :ok

If it doesn't hold a charge then there's either a drain due to a short.... or the battery is kaput (5 year lifespan)
Take the leisure out and charge it up overnight. Then check the Voltage after half an hour.... then check it again after an hour.. if it keeps dropping and drops below 12.6 V it's Kaput.
Your westy lights do not run from the leisure battery

thanks Kevtherev, for putting me right, to be honest guy was a bit of an odd one, he has fitted the new mains hook up and wired this pretty much direct as I can see to a plug socket inside, which is not great as I presume this would be much - better / safer / legal with a comsumer unit between the mains in and the socket.

Also no idea if the fridge is working or not.....................

Think you could well be right about the leisure battery, probably best to get a new one, I've had the van years and never replaced, it, so due one, can never work out how to the get the bloomin thing out! Its like one of those crazy logic puzzles moving the drivers seat about......

off to buy a consumer unit now thanks again kev

yes interior lights run off the driving battery as standard its off fuse 3 on the main fusebox also does strereo, people often wire this fuse up to their leisure instead, its one of those westy brain farts the designers had.
