Yet more cooling woes...

Post by markbikerider »

Hiya folks,

After the myriad of cooling problems I've had recently with my 1987 2.1 petrol bus, the latest is an easy fix, but I'm not sure what the part is called or where to get the replacement....
The metal pipe (I think it might be called the ditribution pipe/hose) that runs around the circumference of the engine bay just under the lid has rusted and sprung a leak. On my model it has six inputs/outputs for rubber hose connections - The irony is, it only happed when I was replacing the rubber hoses that connect to it as they are all in poor shape - you start one job with good intentions and end up having to fix another!

Any advice greatly appreciated, as ever! Cheers, mark :)

Synchrospares, Sth Molyon have used parts, I got a plastic one from them about a year ago in usable condition.
Used metal ones may already be rusted!

its known as the "bleeding ring" FYI

and the way the idiot pricing on parts for these vans is going, you'll need a "bleeding remortgage" to buy one!! lol!
the carb engined ones have one less outlet iirc

Thanks very much everyone for your helpful advice (as ever!). Plastic seems to be the better option, but you're right about the prices! Blimey!
Until next time....... Mark :ok

Being a skin flint and a good bodger I would look at making one up out of suitable rubber hose and "T" pieces with good quality hose clips.

If I was rich I would just buy one
