New poptop purchase

Post by kevinbeever »

Hi
I want to fit a poptop to my tin top van and wondered if anyone has had one fitted? I,ve seen two sites that sell the westy style T25 Direct (ebay) for £2250 fitted and O'Connors campers £2940 fitted and £2100 diy. It would be nice to knock one up myself in fibreglass using the tintop roof as a mould so it sits close to the original, then i wake up and realise its not going to happen!! The second hand route is an option but the westfalia roofs dont seem to come on the market much and ive heard its not a straight forward fit. If anyone has had one fitted/fitted one or can reccomend other suppliers i would be grateful for any suggestions.

Cheers

Kev

Westy roofs were fitted to westys
the roof of the van was slightly modified for the top by VW
not impossible but a bit of a faff.
Easier to fit an english top, they were made for the standard van.
Devon, Autosleeper, Leisuredrive, Autohomes, Holdworth villa, Diamond RV, Viking all did pop tops in varying forms, some were solid sided to keep the noise down and the warmth in.

On this note are there any reviews from owners on any of the after market westy style pop-tops?

I too have been considering a pop top like the ones offered on ebay or O'conners but if i was going to spend 2.5k on a top I'll need to know its worth it!

I notice JK are selling them in their new T25 catalogue but i think its just an outlet for O'Connors campers with £50 off, better than nothing though!
If i can ever afford the poptop i'll probably fit it myself to save the £800, can't wait to cut a great big hole in my roof, not!

I'm guessing from the lack of responce not many of these new poptops have been sold. Anyone had any experience or even just seen the quality of one?
Any feedback would be apreciated.

Just to let people know if they didnt already, i found out today that you can still purchase a new Reimo Poptop from a UK Reimo supplier for around £2400. I would imagine it is top quality, but still on the expensive side. Not sure if the bed is included in that price but delivery and vat are.
