Hi Guys

Could this be a hydraulic tappet problem, not lifting a valve enough?

Just a thought.

like TACK TACK TACK noise

that's a loud noise...

Those compression figures are dreamy for an Aircooled engine... very healthy :ok

the lifters have drained ....it needs to be driven for a while to fill them back up
Don't worry you won't do any damage but take it fairly easy

all thats happening is the valve(s) affected wont open completely and the open time is ever so slightly affected.
It won't cause the popping.

Cheers Kev, mega flat spot the last time i had her out and no more than 30mph like i said.

I will take her for a run and see what happens.
Still need to get to the bottom of the popping then?

Kev spot on mate, took her for a drive and all is good now :ok

I still have a small popping when going down hill and changing from 4th to 3rd on over run.
Im thinking exhaust issue poss.

Anyway thank you all very much for all the help on this issue.

Lesson learned keep an eye on oil level more regularly.

MOT next week so fingers crossed!

Much appreciated

John
