IGNITION SWITCH

hi, i'm replacing the ignition switch as i bought a new set of locks but never got around to this one. i'm doing the blower so replacing the wiper as well...WHAT A F##K OF A JOB!!....anyway i have the ignition unit off the van but can't get the key bit away from the rest of the unit...HOW...or don't you..is it a new one for a new key
