Hi,
I recently bought a T25 1986 with a recon engine, and whilst taking it for it's first trip, a buzzing noise from the dash accompanied by the oil light turning on startled me.... enough to pull in right away and check the oil, which was fine, maybe a little high, but not by much.
The noise and light quickly turned off and I carried on my journey. After having a lovely weekend and doing 200 + miles trouble free, when in the same town (Telford) on the return the same thing happened again...??
Can anyone tell me anything as to why this happened and should I be concerned?
Thanks,
Tony.

Ok...Just checked Wiki
I think the increase oil level may be a problem..?
Going to drop the oil and replace, any ideas on the best oil to use would be appreciated..

Yes Tony you should be concerned

It is likely to be one of three things.
1 = A bad connection somewhere between one of the 2 oil pressure sensors and the dash.
2 = One of the 2 oil pressure sensors is faulty (quite common).
3 = Low oil pressure (could be quite serious if it is this

What it won't be is too high an oil level.
The "buzzer of doom" as it known is a well known thing to go wrong though, so with luck it won't be low oil pressure.
Go to our wiki and type in the word buzzer in the search box and read up on it.
For your peace of mind I would also go to a reputable garage and get your oil pressure checked.
Shouldn't cost much to do that.
Oil should be good quality 15/40 mineral and the oil filter should be a "Mann" brand as available quite cheap from the VW main dealers.
Other makes of filter have been known to cause problems.
Fingers crossed for you mate and don't hesitate to post back if you have any questions.

Tony.....you did wait the obligatory 10-20 mins for the oil to return to the sump, clean the dip and test, didn't you? Otherwise it should have been pretty much covering the dipstick!

I had the same problem. I fitted an oil pressure gauge and everything was fine. Turned out to be a problem in the back of the speedo.

Yes Em,
I realize the "Buzzer of doom" panicked me to a point where I forgot that basic rule..Level is ok in cool engine.
I think it's a good thing to get the pressure tested, to be sure.
Another question I have is I bought a rotor arm and it doesn't look the same as my original??? (my old one looks like it's a limiting rotor arm) And the engine now cuts out when idling..?? Any suggestions??
Thanks everyone...good to have pals..xx
