gear stick play

Hi again,
My five speed box is ok-ish on changing gears but side play on the gearstick when in neutral is massive also in 2nd and 4th we're talking about changing the channels on the radio!. I've read the wiki and understand the contents but on the side play issue, is the repair kit for the gear stick going to cure the free play or are there other areas I should be looking at first?

bottom of five speed stick is spring plungery thing and guide cap, all a bit convoluted, could be the problem, take a look first before ordering bits

Thanks Aiden. Have just bought the "new kit" for the bottom forks on the gearstick from Silverbullet on here.
Will try that and then go for the kit for the bottom of the gearstick from Brickwerks iff need be.
