Blowing JX exhast

Post by mrdp »

Hi guys and girls, I have a slightly blowing exhaust ( Joining Pipe)on my 1990 1.6TD JX engine. Nothing too much to worry about there then. However when I looked on the van it is an early ( upto 1989) type with a sleeve fitting between the joining pipe and the silencer ( hence also an early silencer). it has obviously appeared to work fine fo some years. Can anyone think of a reason to change the whole set up to be correct ie mating flange between joining pipe and silencer or shall I simple follow suit and use a new early type joining pipe again?? ( and save having to buy a new silencer as well) Does the different exhaust silencer affect the performance at at or is it purley a fit issue?? What do you good people think. :D

I guess it's been working fine for a good few years. I think I just replace the holey bit for the same, but non holey version. Cheers for your thoughts
