Hi.
I was reversing out of the drive and had the steering wheel on full lock (turned as far as it will go).
The van (t25 Atlantic) made a loud grinding noise very similar in sound to being not quite in gear. The same thing happened when I turned the wheel full lock the other way... Obviously I checked and was in gear. It only occurs when I'm at full lock either turn... And occurs in reverse or 1st.
Now it's a new van , well 1990, but new to me and has a new non vw standard steering wheel fitted... could this be the issue?
Any advice/ thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

If its petrol, I had a petrol vent tank in the wheel arch that had dropped a bit and was rubbing the tyre.

Take a look under the front arch and see what the wheel is catching on
Are the wheels/tyres standard?
