Fitting Prop and engine protection to Converted Syncro

Post by Pickles »

I need to fit prop protection bars and engine protection to my Syncro, which was converted from 2 wd. In time for the coast to coast run this coming weekend.
I have the prop protection bars and engine protection. But the 2wd chassis doesnt have the brackets welded to it. These brackets are either side of the gearbox nosecone, or decoupler in my case.
I have the brackets which are attached to a cut out section of an old chassis, but the problem I have is there is not much space and I don't fancy welding them in with the decopler etc so near.
Anyone got any ideas.

I know now I should have done it before gearbox went in.

Got to get it done before Friday teatime.

Cheers

take the prop off and drop the nose of the gearbox on trolley jack while you weld and ensure the box is covered with something that will stop the splatter doing any damage and which won't catch fire
just be aware of the shortness of the wiring to the starter motor and depending on what clutch pipe work you have you may need to unclip some or disconnect
